Press Statement

On Tuesday, 12th April 2022, His Excellency Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan confirmed the Unification of Forces through Republican Orders, which are comprised of forces from the Government,  Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement/Army – In Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) and South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) Command Structures of the: Army, National Police Service, National Security Service, National Wildlife Service, National  Prisons Services, and National Civil Defense Service.

On Thursday, 14th April 2022, His Excellency The President in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Army and  Supreme Commander of all other organized forces in South Sudan presided over the Oath of Allegiance Ceremony for the  High Ranking Officers of the Unified Command Structure, which was administered by the Honourable Chief Justice  Mr. Chan Reec Madut.

This is a major accomplishment on the Transitional Security Arrangement as stipulated in Chapter II of the Revitalized  Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS). It is worth noting that these are  very complex processes that entailed extensive and tedious consultations among the party signatories to the Peace  Agreement.

The Embassy takes this opportunity to warmly congratulate H.E. The President of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. First  Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon and H.E. Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol for restructuring the forces into a Unified Command.
