The Embassy warmly congratulates H.E. Amb. Agnes Oswaha for receiving the 2023 Diplomat of the Year from Africa Award, and the other Diplomats who received an award.

H.E. Oswaha made a statement when receiving the award, registering gratitude to the DIPLOMAT Magazine Team for their work with the Diplomatic Community, and the Heads of Missions accredited to the Court of St. James's who voted for her as the Diplomat of the Year for Africa. H.E. Oswaha returned the Glory to God Almighty for enabling her and the Embassy Team to execute their mandate.

She also registered sincere appreciation to H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan for his wisdom and the trust invested in her to serve as the Head of Mission of the Republic of South Sudan to the United Kingdom.

She highlighted that under The President’s leadership, the Revitalised Peace Agreement period has been extended for 24 months with a concrete Transitional Roadmap, which will end with an election. The Government aspires to hold a free and fair election, as witnessed during the Southern Sudan Referendum in February 2011.

Furthermore, H.E. Oswaha illustrated the Government’s commitment to peace and stability in South Sudan and across the African region, noting President Kiir’s role as the Chief Negotiator and actively mediating between the warring parties in the Republic of Sudan, as mandated by the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD). The Ambassador urged that “as diplomats, we have a greater call to consolidate peace around the world”.

H.E. Oswaha expressed profound appreciation to the Team of the South Sudan Embassy for their unwavering support and commitment, working tirelessly and even staying past midnight to ensure that assignments are completed timely.
She also took the chance to demonstrate appreciation to her family for being so considerate, enabling her to enjoy the diplomatic career.
H.E. Oswaha displayed gratitude to the South Sudanese Diaspora in the United Kingdom for the support shown during her tenure.

With this Award, the Ambassador expressed renewed burning desire to keep an unwavering presence of the Republic of South Sudan in the United Kingdom.
H.E. Oswaha stated that she looks forward to widening the scope of engagement with the Diplomatic Community accredited to the Court of St. James’s, the various organisations and institutions, and the host country.

In summary, she dedicated the Award to "the Government and people of the Republic of South Sudan; and all those who made sacrifices for us to have a nation".
